It has been slightly over 5 months since I applied and I haven't heard anything from the Buffalo visa office.
Is this an exceedingly long wait time to get an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR)?

My PGWP is expiring in July 2012. Can it be renewed or do I need to get a LMO from my employer? What should my next step be?

Thanks,

Z

yes, it is quite common now a days if u not get AOR for 5-6 months you can expect any time with in 6 or 6 and half months AOR with medical.
for you cant renewal your PGWP. for renew your WP you need LMO.

Chances are very good that your application processing will be complete before your work permit expires, but it's good to be prepared just in case...

If you have not received your medical request by March 2012 you should speak with your employer about applying for an LMO.

(read the bottom, information for employers)

If your employer receives a positive LMO, then you can apply for a temporary work permit -

To Jes_ON, Manita:

I am confused and bit concerned here .. does everyone get Medical request along with AOR. I received my AOR after 5 1/2 months but not medical request? does that mean my application processing will take longer?

candyman - no, it means you applied before they changed the system :)

Candyman, when did you submit your application and when did you receive your AOR?
I submitted on March 9th and still haven't received my AOR. It has been more than 5 months now. A lot of people who applied after me already received their AOR according to Trackitt. I'm worried :s My money order was cashed out on April 28th though...
