Good evening Folks,

I am applying to Express Entry this week and had a couple of simple questions for you:

I wanted to know what application the CIC will take me under according to my experience.

In Canada: from (2010 to 2013)
1. 1 year and 7 months experience as NOC 1123 A
2. 10 months in NOC 5131 A

Outside of Canada
6 months in NOC 5131A
20 months Part time NOC 5131A while at school.

(References available for all)

English: CLB 10 in all sections

Education:
My ECA is a 4 year bachelors

I am currently in Canada, and want to know if it would b FSW or CEC,
thank you

If the system deems you eligible for both programs, you will get an ITA under FSW. Try leaving out your foreign work experience and setting funds to 0. This would possibly reduce your CRS but you are still likely to end up with enough points and qualify only for CEC.

if the funds are less than 11k for one person , the system wll show as CEC. I had the same scenario . but in my case I was not aware that if you write funds less than 11k, you only will get CEC invite. I am stll not sure how it turns out to be in our favour !!!
CEC processing has been slow snce lasst 2 months now..

If you're invited under CEC, you are exempted from POF requirements. Makes a difference to some people.

Not just CEC. Refugee processing has impacted all economic immigration.

Asivad,

Thank you - that's kind of you to specify.
I have enough funds, i.e. they're over 11K.

However, with CEC being only in the past 3 years and my experience in the past 5 years wont that make a difference?

My employer in my home country wanted to put 20 months FT experience for the time I worked with her, while at school.

It was from Jan 2006 to April 2007, and then from July2007 to March 2008. I just dont know how CIC will see it -FT or PT?

JoacRY,

I wanted to address your recommendation directly - How would the system choose CEC or FSW?

My experience is earlier than 3 years ago.

thank you

Ssd, that sounds good, :) So if I start with all my experience I will likely get FSW, right?
I have the funds and wont want to lie to them :)

well its not about lying to anyone... I had more than 20k but as I was planning to buy a vehicle so i was not sure if I would be able to keep them for coming 4-5 months....So, I declared 10k....

CEC eligibility needs 1 year experience within past 3 years. For CRS points, you can go bac up to 10 years.

My employer in my home country wanted to put 20 months FT experience for the time I worked with her, while at school.

It was from Jan 2006 to April 2007, and then from July2007 to March 2008. I just dont know how CIC will see it -FT or PT?

CIC will accept the reference letter at face value if they have no reason to doubt the contents. If your employer gives you a reference letter which states that you had worked full-time (or at least 30 hours/week), you can claim FT for that period simultaneously with your educational credential. Nothing wrong with that.
What you really need to evaluate is - if you want an FSW ITA or CEC ITA.

If you want a CEC ITA, remove the foreign work experience and set funds available as 0. That would qualify you for CEC alone. If doing this still keeps your CRS above 460, perfect.

My CRS with no foreign work experience gets me to 447. With foreign work ex, of 1 year I am at 497.
In your experience would this be a chance to take with CEC?

That's true, well I would show a reasonable amount, over 11K since I've worked in Canada and have a business here now.
But without my foreign work ex it seems to be 447 points, and I dont know if that qualifies.

In that case, unlikely to qualify only for CEC. Try setting funds to 0 and see if it works. Else continue with FSW if you have the available funds in place.

All the best!

Thanks Asivad - would I be able to change funds after submitting or not? Just want to be sure of the pros and cons of this, thanks again!

Basically if you are under CEC you don't have to dig up as much paperwork, including proof of funds which is a pain to get.

The less you have to submit, the less you can stuff up/make mistakes etc and reduce your chance of rejection.
