I'm applying to NOC 2112-Science, Chemistry and after calculating my points I got 409. I got 102/128 on CELPIP exam and have 1 year Canadian work experience as a postdoc. Is it a good idea to still apply or is it a long shot?

What do you mean 102/128. They give you 4 separate scores for Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing. To be competitive you need a score of at least 450. What are your scores for each component?

reading: 12.0 (corresponding CRS 32)
Listening: 12.0 (corresponding CRS 32)
Writing: 8.0 (corresponding CRS 22)
speaking: 7.0 (corresponding CRS 16)

Total: 102 out of 128 (max CRS for language)

See if you can get your CELPIP test re-marked to improve speaking and Writing scores to at least 9. This will get you 450 or thereabouts.
