Hello all,

I am a qualified secondary school science teacher from the UK (I have an undergraduate degree, a PGCE with QTS and more than a year of qualified teaching experience in England) and I plan on basing my FSW application for express entry/PR on this education and skilled work under category 4031.

I am currently on the working holiday visa living in BC working as a contractor (in education tech, not in a school) and I want to know if holding a BC/provincial teaching certificate, or having applied for one already, is necessary for when you make your PR application. I know that having a provincial teaching certificate is required for public school teaching posts in Canada and I plan on pursuing this once (if) I get PR but I need to know if not having this already when applying will fail my application or damage it in some way.

I am torn because FSW is a federal government decision but the employment is a provincial one. However, they might ask about me supporting myself financially while I get certified but I am already working and have an income here.

Please advise,

Thank you!
