My family (with 1 kid) will be returning to Ontario this year and will need health insurance. I been searching around a bit but it seems there are few options available.

Some where I read you can get legit insurance for as low as $2-5/per day, while some big companies like (manulife) cost more than $400 per month.

Why so much different in price? is this travel vs private health insurances? if so, any share their pros-cons , recommendations?

Travel and private health insurance is the exact same thing. Basically covering medical expenses for any emergencies that arise.

The Manulife one you are comparing to may be a full comprehensive insurance including dental, vision care, regular check ups, etc.

See here to compare insurance quotes for emergency coverage while waiting for OHIP to start: https://www.kanetix.ca/travel-visitors-to-canada
