Hi,
I've been given extra 35 points for only 10 months of Canadian Work Experience (Oct 2014 - Sep 2015). I had a total of 3 jobs during this time, one was part-time.
Can I include part-time work if it overlapped with the full-time work period or must it run afterwards?
Must work experience run consecutively or can it run concurrently?
TIA

I think you need at least 52 weeks to hit the 1 year experience target (if you're working part time, longer). At 30 hours a week that amounts to 1560 hours, e.g. you can't work 50 hours a week and just get to one year/1560 hours in only 31 weeks. There must be something else that you entered.

I honestly didn't enter anything else, I just entered Oct 2014 - Sept 2015 for 1 job as my only work in Canada and it's giving me 35 extra points. It doesn't ask for exact dates so that could be 10/11 months but not 12. I know this has happened to other people, seems to be a fault in their system.
They specify 12 months (not 52 weeks) on their website and Imm Rep informed me they've allowed approx 2 weeks shortage for vacation etc., which means I need 11m+2wks, so I'm short 5 weeks.

It seems the system probably reads Oct 2014 - Sept 2015 as 12 months. However, when you do submit documents the exact duration would be clearer to the processing people. I would not risk it.

Thanks everyone for your input. QUESTION: My current employer in Europe has a facility in Canada, if I transferred there for a few weeks to make up the remaining time, do you think this would work?

Yes - that would technically work. However transferring there is much easier said than done and I think you'll most likely struggle to get a work permit approved for just a few weeks (unless you still have a valid open work permit). Assuming you do not have a valid open work permit, your employer either needs to apply for and obtain an ICT work permit - or obtain an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.

Thanks Scylla.
Yes I have a valid work permit until September (just don't want to leave my employer), so I think it's worth asking if I can work in Canada for a few weeks. I'm not sure how it works with taxes as payroll wouldn't change. I guess Canadian Work Experience is still valid even if I declare & pay taxes elsewhere. I'll just have to tell Canadian Revenue and provide proof of tax payment. Thanks again :)
