309 certificate

I am a journeyman class one electrician from Zimbabwe, is this equivalent to the 309 certificate.On applying for jobs , lam being asked whether l have the 309 certification.lf l say no , it would seem like l am not a skilled worker while by African standards l am highly skilled.Please assist.

Do not have a specific answer but doubt no matter how skilled a foreign worker is, especially an electrician, can simply take up a job without holding a licence or certification to operate in Canada given every country has different industry standards. As said I do not have an answer about 309 certificate but other posts have referred to tradesmen needing to get a Red Seal certification.
