Hi there,

I have this confusion on the "Additional points for Post-secondary education in Canada". For a Master's degree which lasts less than 2 years, how many additional marks can I get?

When I use the CRS Score Tool, I got +30. But when I read the fine prints below (CRS Score detail), I feel confused. Does anyone know where I can find the official document to confirm?

Thanks a lot!!

Hi! I had the same confusion in my profile today and would like to receive a further confirmation from someone more experienced. Maybe @legalfalcon knows the answer?

That's what I found on official Q&A section: Source*

Students can now also earn additional Comprehensive Ranking Score points for study in Canada above high school:

  • 15 points for a one- or two-year diploma or certificate
  • 30 points for a degree, diploma or certificate of three years or longer, or a Master’s, professional or doctoral degree of at least one year.
As well as here*:
Canadian study experiencePoints
If the candidate has an eligible credential from a one-year or two-year post-secondary program in Canada15 points
If the candidate has either:
  • an eligible credential from a post-secondary program of three years or more, or
  • an eligible credential from a university-level program at the master’s level or at the level of an entry-to-practice professional degree for an occupation listed in the National Occupational Classification matrix at Skill Level A for which licensing by a provincial regulatory body is required, or
  • an eligible credential from a university-level program at the doctoral level
30 points
So, is it correct that even for 1 study year Master's degree (Master's that is greater than 8 month in duration and doesn't have any breaks), we can get 30 additional points?
