hi All,

As per the CIC website Applications received toward the overall cap: 6,564 of 20,000 as of January 17, 2011.
And cap has been reached for 1122 Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management 1,000
(Cap reached)** and 3152 Registered Nurses .

There are 29 occupations and cap of 20,000 . So it does not mean 1000 applications per occupation.
Does the Cap vary for each NOC?
Does tht mean if there is a sudden flow of applications for certain NOC codes and it covers the 20,000 cap
applications pertaining to certain NOC will be over looked.

PLease help in understanding.

There is nothing to understand. You are right.
Once 1000 capacity for a NOC is reached, all application for that particular NOC will be rejected.
When capacity of 20000 is reached no applicaiton will be accepted.
So some of the NOCs will never reach max quota.

Which are the ones that will never reach the quota according to your opinion. Which are the popular, which the less popular NOCs?

I think the regulated occupations will be less popular one, especially engineering/technician/supervisor ones.
Cos most of the workers in this category won't have a degree/diploma/certificate/apprenticeship to prove education. Hence even if they have sufficient experience they won't be able to apply due to lack of points

Hi nano,

Regulated jobs require certain education, experience and tests to pass. This is all required to work in Canada but not required to immigrate.

For instance, for engineers, they have to be PE Professional Engineers to work as engineers in canada. For an engineer to become PE, He has to set for a series of exams and pass. This is ONLY to get work. Engineers can immigrate easily without being PE. Two of friends, who are now canadians, were engineers, immigrated to Canada, did some interim work until they finish their PE studies and passed the exams. This all happened in Canada.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

For your information NOC 7216 , 7215 are non regulated jobs in canada and if you read Op6 see to apply under these NOC do not consider employment requirment.

69 points - 0631 Restaurant and Food Service Managers

Dear Anu: Are you saying anyone under 0631 will not get 67 points? If that is the case you have just offended me! I have 79 points and been in the hospitality business for more than 25 years, with more diplomas, degrees and achievements than any so called business professionals with pimply faces and a half serious piece of paper that is not recognised in most of the world.

Get of you high horse, having studied means nothing in the western world. Every idiot can study..If I employ someone I want people who can actually work and do the job. And let me tell you a crane operator or mining worker is as important if not more than some bad doctor or lawyer..

So finished with my rant...

He knows not what he says. A plumber with Gr 12 and an apprenticeship of 3-5 years, gets 22 points the same as 2 University degrees at the bachelor level and more that a single Bachelor. Most of the "other" jobs he quotes that would not qualify, most have at least a 2 year apprenticeship and would earn 20 points.

Dear mikenz ,
I hve nothing against anybody.
Jst tht i am feeling bad for everyone who is not aware of the process and able to cross the 67 border line. Escpecially for my friend who beloongs to the category 7242 Industrial Electricians. He is qualified in all other respects but jst needs 11 points for IELTS. Its the nature of job in country where the Industrial Electrician does not need the person to b an expert in english language. He is an asset to the industry in all respects. But not able to get 11 points for IELTS. I was just feeling bad for him and please dont take anyhting personally.
