Going into my 23rd month soon, and still no invite. I tried every possible contact method, my only resort now is the writ of mandamus. Costly, but I ran out of options.

Wow that’s insane and so unfair! Hope you get some good news soon. If you have no particular “need” to have the citizenship processed “faster” , I am not sure it’s worth spending thousands of $ for an uncertain outcome.. but that’s just my opinion
Also, I could be wrong but I don’t think IRCC is giving a deadline by which an application MUST be completed.. I believe they only commit to do about 80% of the routine application in the 1 year timeframe.

That being said, I really get your frustration. It’s terribly unfair that some applications are processed in a few months .. and it would take years for others.

Hello, when my application was going 13 months, I went to MP (Member of Parliament) and asked their advise. From there, I learned why my application was delayed tho I had a hunch already and I brought all the documents needed to support my claim.

Google the address of the MP in your area and ask for their help.

To me, after asking for help, my application started to move again.

My timeline:

March 2018 - application
May 2018 - In Process
April 2019 - went to MP
June 4 - CIC mailed about additional document (cause of delay)
June 2019 - Got my test invite
July 10 - Took the test
Aug 8 - invitation to attend ceremony
Sept 5 2019 - My oath taking

Goodluck!

Hey Sarafandee,

Hang in there. I was in your shoes not too long ago. I just did the oath this morning and I am an October 2017 applicant. The judge mentioned that in the last 4 months alone they processed close to 19,000 applications for tests and 25,000 applications for oath for that period from April till August. What I want to tell you is 1) don't lose hope even if it looks like it 2) order GCMS notes every now and then because I heard it makes them take a look at your file and 3) keep calling them asking for updates and call your MP. I know you have done all of this but keep doing them again and eventually it will work out. Its a bitter waiting game and it sucks
