Hi,

I'm another March 2018 inland applicant and still waiting for PA side to go to DM (Sponsor's side has been completed for over a year now). The last time my file was opened by an agent was in mid-January 2019 and then... nothing since. My lawyers have requested my case notes twice. From this, we've seen that I've passed medicals, criminal checks etc. but it's still stuck on "background checks".

All of our communications to the Mississauga Office since August 2019 have received form replies to be "patient" which is quite frankly infuriating at this point and beyond patronising. If it was within a year of processing, sure, I get it. But over 2 years with an entire calendar year where no one opened my file? Give me a break. People in our situations deserve an answer since we've gone far, far beyond the promised timeline. If I had a reason as to why it's taking as long as it has been, it'd give us some sense of relief. Being kept in the dark isn't a great feeling and nor is having my life essentially on hold.

And because of COVID-19 now, I have a feeling I - and others like me - won't have a hope in hell of getting a landing interview until 2021. By that point, I'll be well over halfway to being eligible for bloody citizenship! I joke about it with my husband because the other alternative is to cry, and quite frankly, I've done enough of that on holidays where I wasn't able to take a trip home and had to tell my family "maybe next year".

Hi!
I know how you feel. They opened our file for the first time in august 2019 more than one year before we send it. This is so frustrating.

So you Received AIP and SA one year ago ?

Yep, SA and AIP were both approved within days of each other in mid-January of last year. I was tentatively hopeful that we were making good progress until everything ground to a halt!

That is really weird. They said in a inland case aip and sa come at the end of the process. Have you tried to contact your MP ? We made it and it made things move a little.
It take 21 months have ours . I hope they will not make us wait another year. But I learn that call/send webform ( via representant or MP ) is the only way to make things move.
I will not let them forget us for another year.
Agent have a ' équité procédural' ( sorry dont know the name in english ) chart to follow and in this document there is a point ' délai de traitement injustifié '
So my next move is to send a letter via my MP asking IRCC if they think that 26 months of delay is justifiable and how. And i'm gonna put the link to their own chart 'équité procédural'.
I really don't like to be treated differently and unfairly.
Hope it's gonna help.

I did contact the MP in DEC2019 and he gave the same info that i already knew. But the did ask me meet him if nothing happens till 1st weej of april. And nothing happened. But now with all this covid 19 lockdown stuff going on it is not possible to meet him and even i got to meet him smhow i am pretty sure he is gonna say me to wait till this thing is over. We all need anwer for the delay though.

I feel exactly the same as you. Everything is on hold for no apparent reason other than lack of effort. The last time we were updated was Jan 2019. 2 years waiting for someone to go through what is a simple application is, quite frankly, ridiculous. And their team replying with automated emails saying we should be "patient" really grinds my gears. My MP's secretary told me they would pass it onto their immigration specialist, but I haven't heard anything from "Jennifer" despite us chasing several times.

I might actually apply for a job in their office when I can. Seems you don't have to do much else other than sit on your hands.

I called cic today and they said they are only working on most important cases at this time like work pemits for essencial service industry and my file is in queue and waiting for a officer. And there is no fixed timeline to it and he said not to expect much any soon. Annoying.

This is so frustating !
I can't believe they don't have enough agents working to at least take care of the backward files like ours!
Our MP just sent a really great letter of support saying that he dont think that 26 month of delay is justifiable ( then we put the link to their 'équité procédural' ) becaus we have always respond to their demand really quick and we have paid all the fees. We hope it's gonna make move things !
