Hi all,

I am getting everything prepared to put through the application to sponsor my mum and step dad from Australia.
I have a few questions though:

1) Do they need to get a Medical Check BEFORE the application is processed and the results sent through with the application?
2) Do they need to get a Police Check BEFORE the application is pressed and the results sent through with the application?

I am also confused about something I just stumbled across. There are 2 different sections on the CIC websites referring to this application.

This is the one I have been working off the past month: cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/sponsor-parents.asp

But than today, I googled Sponsorship Application and this came up: cic.gc.ca/English/information/applications/fc.asp

They seem to have the same information, however one says, "Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents" and the other says "Sponsor a Member of the Family Class".
3) Are these 2 different things?

Also the second one has a Part 3 that the first one doesn't have. This information asks about, police check, medical check, passport size photos but the file says for "Sponsorship of a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child living outside Canada"
4) Do I need to do this if I am sponsoring my parents?

1) No
2) No
3) Yes - two different things. You need to use the parent/grandparent application. Note that CIC may update forms before the end of the year and you need to ensure you use the new ones.
4) See above.

Actually one last question. With regards to my step dad coming over, my mum being the Principal applicant, puts his information on her forms she is filling out indicating he is her spouse and when we fill in the paperwork for payment, we select, Sponsor, Principal Applicant and Spouse, is that correct?
