Hi all,

I am currently living in Ontario on a temporary work permit as a foreign skilled worker. I applied for permanent residency (from within Canada) through an immigration law firm in 2011 but appear to be getting nowhere fast and doubts and queries are mounting. I am using a reputable law firm but am becoming increasingly disappointed with their inability to answer my questions, I have searched through this forum and while there is alot of good information here, I have become more confused about certain aspects of my application.

I had already arranged employment from the UK so I thought the application would be relatively straight forward. It was received in Sydney, NS on 29th September 2011 and I received a Positive Eligibility Review on 22nd December 2011. There has been no movement since then.

I am trying to be patient but my law firm has recently told me that Buffalo, which is where my application is for some reason, has increased their waiting times to in excess of 24 months. I have no idea why the application is in Buffalo as I thought it would have gone to London (I am a Uk citizen). I have had no official contact for 14 months and the law firm will not persue any update news and recommend I don't either.

I guess my reason for posting this is to ask if any of this seems strange to anybody else and to confirm that there is nothing else I can do.

If it is of any importance I applied with N.O.C. code 7321 and am FSW2.

thanks in advance

You can send a case enquiry to the visa office yourself. You don't have to go through the lawyer. You may also want to consider letting go of your lawyer and dealing with this yourself. As you say yourself this forum is of great help.

1. It is obvious your law firm is not really on top of it. Buffalo has been closed for some time now, and all the applications were shipped to Ottawa.
2. You are look at about 15 months for 80% of the skilled worker applications in Ottawa, you can add some time to that for those transferred from Buffalo.
3. So, 15 months from Dec/11 is about May/13.
4. If I were you, I would order a copy of my GCMS notes to see what is really going on. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp
