2 year PGD courses and their scope.

Hi,

I've done my BE in Computer Engg from Mumbai University, and have just passed out. Initially I had planned to apply to the states for next year, and have GRE and TOEFL dates in the first two weeks of November. But off late my family and I have discussed and Canada is a much better option for further studies, considering the PGWP duration and lesser loan amount we'll incur.

My BE aggregate is 56% so I'm guessing it'll be very difficult to get through and get a master's degree at any of the public unis over there. So the next option is a PGD, and I'm interested in doing it in a specialization like Information systems/Information securities/Information business analyst courses.

I would like to know the following things:

1) How much scope for jobs does having a PGD give you in comparison with masters? I haven't really heard great things about it except from counselors/agents and they aren't to be completely believed I'm sure.
2) If the scope is good, then what are the few good colleges for PGD in Canada?
3) What are the good PGD courses if the ones I mentioned don't have much scope?
4) Do I need to give IELTS or will giving the TOEFL in November work fine?
5) Is it possible to fund your living costs by working part time on campus? I've been told that after the first six months it is possible to legally work off campus jobs too. And 40hrs/week in the vacations.
6) I have been working part time for two years alongside college. Didn't have a fixed designation as such, but the work included IT related work too. I'll get an LOR from them mentioning the same, will that make my chances better for landing a good college? I'm also working with an NGO and will have a certificate from them too.

answer: do some research, try to study that field which is in demand in Canada, u can search the net for high demand occupations in Canada and then go for one which suits u according to ur future plans and past background. it will help u secure good jobs and in less time. forget about wat u want to study....it doesn't matter its a pgd or masters or phd until unless u r studying what it in high demand in canada......remember ur aim is to earn and get PR....so hell with wat u want...just do wat is in demand

answer: contact them on their international student section, email them ur all details, they will tell u exactly what u can do or avail. each college or uni has its own requirements. if ur mode of studies was in English then most uni don't need ielts or toefl, just get a letter head from ur uni/college in which its stated that ur studying language was English. check with the uni/college u r applying.


5) Is it possible to fund your living costs by working part time on campus? I've been told that after the first six months it is possible to legally work off campus jobs too. And 40hrs/week in the vacations.

answer: atleast take 2 years of expenses with u, for 1st 6 months u can only do work in uni campus, after that u can do part time but that wont necessarily cover up ur living cost...may be u can cover food or residence or books......but one thing only, not all......so be practical and take funds with u atleast for 2 years of expenses.

it is difficult to get a job in ones own field how do u expect to get a job in a different field lol.....there is no simple answer to ur question u have to read through requirements of all the provincial nominee programs for PR.

on an open work permit u can do any job but will that job get u a PR is another story and u have to read through requirements of all the PR programs to get an idea. if u cannot find a job in ur field how do u expect to get a job in another field? first and fore most u should check if ur field is good enough to get u a PR. also dont expect to get a PR working as a cab driver or flipping pizzas

The one livin in manitoba saying me that u shud come in manitoba and suudy and u can do job in any field like in stores or any where and than after an year u can apply for p.r there! Ryt now i am soo damn stressed about that!

sorry to say this u may get admission to a PG diploma but chances of getting a visa with that percentage is very low to none.

advanced or PG diploma the problem is ur low percentage.....difficult to convince VO ur a genuine student.

Doing my animation diploma from maac institute new delhi. and my consultant is saying that i can go on diploma basid and eligible for advance diploma there!
