Dear All,

Hi,

I have been a family dependent in the application for permanent residency of Canada since 4 years ago. This year I was admitted to pursue PhD studies in Canada. So, I applied for a study permit.

two weeks ago, we received PPR for permanent residency and we sent passports to the embassy. Today, I received PPR for my study permit while my passport is in the embassy now. The question is that Can I have two visa for Canada in my passport?!

Thanks

this is my personal thought:

I believe you can get your PR visa stamped and go directly to Canada...forget about the study visa..

you land in Canada as a PR and enroll straight in University...they will ask you proof of status and you can show your Copy of Permanent Residence....

To answer your original question, yes, you can have two visas...if you land with study permit first (highly unlikely given your situation) you will be a student and then to become a PR you will need to exit Canada again or set up an appointment at a local CIC office...

If you land first as PR, your study visa will stand be to no longer valid
