Hi,
could you please give me an advice on my situation.
Both me and my wife may get over 67 points under the new rules of FSWP. Is it allowed to send two separate applications (with me and my spouse as principal applicants)? If yes, does it make sense in terms of improving our chances to get into quota for 2013?
She is a scientist (neural research) and I'm an IT specialist (database administration)

It does not make any sense ..........when new list is announced ......then check occupation who is in the list and that must be the principal applicant ......why do not you want to pay double fee.......

It is allowed, so you can do it if you really wanted to and both of you are eligible to apply. But, the decision will likely be based on whose occupation qualifies for FSW. If both of you could apply as PA, then whoever scores the most points could be the PA. But, honestly I don't think IT specialist is going to be in the list. So, the chances are your wife will have to be the PA if her occupation is in the list.

I agree with Namaste,

Your wife may have a better chance qualifying that you have. Previous work experience in Canada and the US also counts for alot.

Thank you for your opinions.
I think we should really wait for an announcement of the occupation list.
One more question - if all goes well and our petition is approved - does it matter who was a principal applicant? I mean that we'll both have the same status, eligibility for a work and so on.

It doesn't matter. You will both get PR and all the good stuff that comes with it at the same time.
