2 or more Certificates, Degrees or Diplomas'

Hi all, wanted your help before I spend the money. I have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting & Finance with an ECA classified as 'Equivalent to a 3 year Canadian degree...'.

I also found out from this Forum my CA accounting designations are not certificates, degrees or diplomas'. I did some research and found the University of Toronto offering short 2 month courses which it says are 'certificates' in disciplines including 'Financial Accounting'/and other accounting related subjects. If I do one or more of these courses, can I select the '2 or more Certificates,degrees or diplomas' option?

I am completely guessing, to tell the truth, and I don't think a 2-month certificate will really help. From what an immigration consultant told me, WES also bases the ECA on the total years of education. So a 2-month course will not help your previous 3-year assessment.

did you try to evaluate CA.
I thought all charters are included.
CA is just like CFA.
I think you should write an email to degree evaluators and ask them.

Hi Bellaluna, thank you for your reply. The only reason I thought it would help is that 1 is a degree (3 years or more) and the other is a 'certificate'. Would this not satisfy the criteria?

Hi adi1989, thanks for your reply. It's my understanding (and tell me if I'm wrong) that WES does not evaluate a 'professional designations'. I thought they only evaluate Bachelors, and Masters degrees. Am I wrong?

Heyy bud, I am writing to apologies again. I work retail so i didn't get time to get back to the forum.

And regarding your question, I think cic usually asks for ontario graduation certificates if you are trying to claim points for two or more certificate option.
But i dont see why CA shouldn't be positively evaluted.

They have equivalent courses out here

Canada has CPA, CGA, CFA

All of them are charters.

The only reason i think they wont evaluate is different accounting standards.

I would still ask them

But what about the professional courses.
It takes lot of hard work and 3 - 4 yrs to complete these courses.
I am sure there might be some orgaisation that evaluates these courses.

WES states on their websites that they do not evaluate trade or occupational certificates. I don't know about accounting certs, but for IT, they also have tons of certs in system (windows/linux) and network admin, and those top certs are, of course, not easy to complete at all.

Hi RamsayBolton, in my case could I say the degree is 3 yrs and the course is 3 months? The way I read the requirement is that '1 must be for 3 years or longer'. Hence degree: 3 years, Certificate: 2 months.

Do you not think this will be accepted?

If you check out the link I provided above, you can see that to be able to choose the "Two or more..." option, your cert must be in the list of the "below sections" which all of them are one-year cert. You can see besides the high school diploma, everything must have at least 1-year study duration. However, don't take my word or anyone here, you should write an email to CIC or call them directly.

Yep, got it. I guess in that case if I was to do a 'Certificate' it would need to be 1 year or more. Sigh

How much time do you have left on your PGWP? your score is already high, so you will definitely get the ITA early next year. I'm sitting here with 447.

I've only got till 26 June 2016. Already I'm looking to see if there are other options
