12 Month VS 24 month permit - please help!!

Hi!
I was accepted into the WHP in June 2015 and arrived here in July 2015. I was only given a valid visa for the duration of my travel insurance (12 months). Is is possible to extend this with updated travel insurance & pursue the maximum 24 month allowance for Australians participating in the WHP/IEC? Can I do this by exiting and re-entering the country with a still valid Port of Entry letter?
This is my first time applying with the program.

I think so, just be sure to do it BEFORE your current WP expires.

I'll recommend to do it ASAP, just in case you have some problems you'll have time to fix it.
