I have rented a small u-haul truck to make my move to Toronto this week. I was wondering if anyone knew if I had to get in the truck line at the border in Sarnia seeing how it's a non-commercial vehicle?

My wife will be following in our car and I figured it would be ideal to go through the same line.

She has already landed.

You should not get into the truck line as you are not crossing for commercial purposes.
Stick with the auto and passenger lanes.

Pretty sure U-Hauls are considered commercial vehicles. I know you can't drive them on the Garden State Parkway.

Links, The distinction is not about the vehicle. Yes, u-haul trucks are commercial and not private vehicles....

At a border crossing, truck lanes are for trucks carrying goods for commercial purposes. So if he was crossing for that purpose in a uhaul the truck lane would make sense. But he will not be carrying commercial goods when he crosses; he will be carrying his personal goods.

No, you should not go to the commercial vehicles lane. I made exactly this mistake and had to be escorted back to the regular line.

Well that is good to know. While driving to or from the border DO NOT drive on any roads where commercial vehicles are prohibited though, like most parkways. You could get a ticket.
