1 Year Experience - Hours are capped at 30

Hi everyone,

I recently submitted my profile in to the pool for Express Entry. Under Canadian Experience class, the requirement is 1,560 hours of work in 1 year. From Feb 2024 to Dec 2024, I reached 1612 hours as my employer requires 37.5 hours of work every week. But the portal does not count the hours as 37.5, it only does 30 hours. I lost my employment in Dec and hence I am not able to get more hours of employment. Hence I am not getting the points for 1 YoE. Is there a way to circumvent this since I have met the hours anyway?

You don’t have one calendar year of experience. No way to circumvent as you need another 2 months of skilled work experience.

You can meet the 1,560 hour requirement in a few different ways:

• full time at 1 job: up to 30 hours a week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
• equal amount in part-time work: for example 15 hours a week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
  • You can work as many part-time jobs as you need to meet this requirement.
• full time at more than 1 job: 30 hours a week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
