Currently I am residing in Canada, Can someone confirm whether Canada police clearance is mandatory or optional?

If so, what was the validity of that clearance after that is been issued?

If you lived in a country more than 6 months cumulatively after the day you turned 18, you'll need to get the police certificate from that country . For Canada they won't need it unless requested.
