1 academic year means 1 full year??

i want to know if one academic year which is equal to 8 months is equal to one year of study..it requires you 2 years of studies to apply for PR.does this means that 2 full academic years are enough which is 16 months of education or it will need 24 months of college??

1. An academic year is 2x 4 month semesters. Require 4 semesters for 2 years.

so doest it mean that if i have undertaken 2 different certificate courses,where duration of each is 8 months subdivided into 2*4 months then i will get a work permit of how many years in case i apply for pgwp??
