I am considering applying under new IT category. Below I've copied an excerpt from the experience letter, can anyone shed some light if it will be enough to qualify under 0213. I also have a BS from Texas in IT and MBA with concentration in Global Program & Project Management from Connecticut.

"....Over a period of three years Mr. ia76 evolved into a highly skilled leader with accepting team responsibilities as well as managing client expectations. Mr. ia76 is an exceptional communicator, skilled leader and a motivator, as well as an expert in the areas of software design, integration, distribution, and project management.
As a Sr. Software Integration Analyst and Team Lead his day-to-day responsibilities included meeting clients, gathering system requirements, designing software integration solutions, user acceptance testing, prioritizing and delegating work, scoping and setting timelines, and managing all communication between software integration team and the client. In addition Mr. ia76 was responsible for organizing and conducting weekly status meetings, as well as training new consultants on Windows architecture and concepts of Software Integration and Distribution."

Seniors please enlighten all of us.

Thanks a lot!
ia76.

of course, i wasn't serious about your name.

I asked that question because that will help the more knowledgable people answer your question.
I think (but not 100% sure), the definition of a manager for 0213 is someone who manages people not necessarily systems.
I don't think the letter given to you has it that you are managing people. That you should convince CIC.

Job duties are a lot more important than the job title. Your employer might be eccentric and give you a job title such as "head elf" but if your job duties match that of a manager, then you are a manager.

Thats true, because sometime the head elf could stand in for Santa during emergencies.

But on a serious note, the fact that he had managed 4 people should qualify him as a manager right?

On a serious note, he should read the job description for the NOC he wants to apply under and see if the job duties fit.

rupeshhari and Leon, thanks for such valuble insights. I just realized that for 3 years I was the elf in Santa's constume leading the dear from chimney to chimney.

Any ways, do you think having an MBA from US with concentration in Project Management and currently being employed in Canada with similar job duties to 0213 has any bearing or effect?? Hope we don't lead this conversation from elf & Santa to Jesus & resurrection.

Not all MBAs are managers initially. Anyway, thats besides the point. You are in Canada and have a job offer right (i.e. your current job), then I think you don't have to fill the ministerial instruction criteria, i.e. it doesnt matter whether you are 0213 or 2173.

Really? I haven’t read anything to support that. Can you please point me to the direction where it states as such? I've gone through the whole op6 manual and do not recall that having a job in Canada is sufficient when I am applying under expedited 0213 category. Did I miss something or miss understood your point?

i am not an expert on this, but I think, for those who lived in Canada for 12 months go under FSW category 3, those with jobs (i dont know if this job must have some special sanction) go under FSW 2 and those with niether of those go under FSW 1. Only FSW 1 need to satisfy minsterial instruction criteria.
