Hi,

I have many same day shopping trips to the US. Should I declare them to avoid RQ? What do you suggest?

Thanks.

yes please....better to declare.....

No -- the instructions are clear. Do not declare same-day trips as they deduce to zero. To have peace of mind, you might want to write it in a cover letter.

Thanks. I like your idea.

I don't believe the instructions are that explicit. They say you do not have to declare same day absences, which is quite different from "do not declare". I went with the view that if I declared the day trips (I had two or three in total), my residence calculation dates aligned exactly with my CBSA report entry dates. It just provides further accountability of my residence. Also, if you get RQ you are asked for all absences from Canada including day trips anyway.

Thanks for posting the link to prove my point. "Do I have to declare day trips to the United States". "No". That does not mean I should not declare them if I can.
