The period is not a given. Some could take just 4 days, like I heard of one applicant in the UK.. Then it could take way up to 15 working days or a little more, like for some applicants in some African countries I know of...
@Omofar please answer me this. A friend has a passport That’s due to expire in 15months time. But he’s expecting a PPR for a 2 year SP. Is it possible for him to be issued a visa beyond the expiry date on his passport?

Yea, its very rare... But it’s still very possible... Like they said, first stage approval doesn’t guarantee we’ll approve your application...So there’s a possibility it could be refused, although slim...And it mostly rests on your eligibility... which I believe they’ll still go and preview...
Imo, It’s a grey area... let me explain... in first stage they test for eligibility. If you’re okay, they give AIP... But they’ll still put “checking your eligibility” on your Online account because things could change... Many things could change in your Eligibility, including your financial...
If you log in to your GCkey account you’ll still see there that “we’re reviewing whether you met the eligibility requirements”... so forget the notes you received... you’ve actually only passed the initial eligibility assessment...

I believe the AIP is specifically for those starting classes Fall of this year... that is this month of September... I don’t think IRCC will issue AIP to someone set to begin classes in January or In the summer...
