Yes you can apply for the open work permit extension as initial it was open permit. I did the same for my spouse. I am on close work permit. Extension for both was filed together. Regarding employer section for her i left as blank as she is not working currently.

Hello , Can you please update on the progress for TRV . On high level is it 2 steps . Once we apply based on the first response need to send the passport and once passport is sent getting it stamp also may take few weeks or months ?

Sometimes web form doesn't provide complete details. Try submitting request for GCMS notes
