You should apply for your work permit extension and be in an implied status while they process your application. That way you can continue working while you wait for your landing. I’m in a similar situation while I wait for my passport to be back and also my landing appointment to be scheduled...

I also think that was the best option. I should have done the same. Unfortunately, I had to renew my passport before sending it to Ottawa and didn't scan it before sending it. I don't even have my passport information now to apply for my visa extension or an ETA. I will have to cross my fingers...
