Hello everyone, My wife finally got her visa and she will fly to Canada in 10 days. We learned something that might be useful, mainly for Iranian friends (we learned it too late to use it). Once you got your PPR, hopefully soon, instead of flying to Damascus, you can find one of tour operators...

My understanding is that if there was not such a restriction, we could have used DHL or TNT and mail the passport directly to Damascus. this would have taken 10 days - compare with 4-6 weeks! Travel to Damascus on the other hand is a pain - but yes, it's the fastest.

A) To submit your passport by courier: Please note that courier companies cannot carry passports into or out of Iran so follow these instructions carefully to avoid unnecessary delays. You cannot send your passport by regular mail, only by commercial courier, you can use companies like: ARAMEX...

From their email: You can submit your passport: a) By commercial courier; b) In person at the Embassy of Canada in Damascus. (You cannot submit your passport in person at the Embassy of Canada in Tehran)

Just a heads up for all Iranians getting their PPR! non of TNT, DHL or ARAMEX are allowed to deliver passports from/to Iran! My wife is planning to fly there next week. what a pain....

And another question: do we have to have to send the return paid envelope as well? or they will pay for it? or they send it as COD?

There is no need for tax money. We pay for those files to be processed (processing fee that is), don't we?!

Does anyone knows a good way of complaining? This is taking too long and the way they work is ridicules. If they say 6 month, that what people rely on. If there is a backlog at Damascus, then they should do something about it. This is people's life they are wasting. Have a look at few Manila...

It doesn't matter. The purpose is to get them working. it will benefit all of types of application.
