Looks like they can use their government issued IDs from the country of origin. So, once we do get married and he returns to Sweden. Won’t there be additional requirements to prove or is the marriage certificate going to be enough?

Yes, I am Canadian. When we do the “check your eligibility for a work permit” he gets you may qualify when selecting that you are relocating to someone that is common law
