They do contact employer to verify your employment details and role & responsibility; if they have any doubt in your documents. It is very common for people to copy paste R&R from internet.

Nope, no update after MEP I did called them in Jan for status update to which agent responded that she can see eigibility recommend pass and nothing started! Tried calling them again but not able to speak with agent
