I think the IELTS writing is scored unfairly. I honestly thought I messed up my speaking, but scored 8.5, so it doesn't seem like they mark that too strictly. If the writing was scored the same I should have done better in it, at least as well as my speaking.

No problem. I don't know if you did, but online practice tests will help you prepare. There are a lot of good sites, IELS Liz was one I used and https://ieltsonlinetests.com Online practice tests help, but I found that in the real test time goes by quicker than in practice.

You should always match it as closely as possible (usually exactly as used in the audio) because the words you have to fill in must be grammatically correct in the sentence. It's basically hearing copy & paste ;) E.g. Turtles have sharp claws they can use to scratch you (correct) Turtles...

If I understood correctly all modules were 10 weeks long, but the courses had a different number of modules, so the courses were all a different length. The reading test was tricky, especially the last section.
