Tips on obtaining a visit visa for wife

Thank you so much for your response and recommendations. We will ensure that we include everything you mentioned with her application . . . apart from the housing lease, as the house we live in is our own. The title is in her name. I already have the house registration translated into from Thai...

Tips on obtaining a visit visa for wife

My apologies for the delay in responding. I did in fact respond to your questions at the time, but it doesn't appear here for some reason. At any rate, we are hoping to apply in early August in the hopes of being able to go to Canada in late September or early October for a maximum of 3 weeks...

Tips on obtaining a visit visa for wife

I am a Canadian citizen and have been married to my Thai wife, a housewife, for 8 years. We live comfortably in Thailand and have no intention of moving to Canada. Our daughter has dual Thai / Canadian citizenship. For my part, I have not lived in Canada for decades and am considered a...

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

I find it rather surreal that we have to make all these changes to our lives for the sake of a three-week vacation to visit family. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, eh?

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

Thank you both for your very valuable comments and suggestions. I understand the situation a lot better now and have a better idea of what they're looking for. I can certainly understand their position considering the abuse of the TRV system that has undoubtedly occurred. It's unfortunate...

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

Thank you very much for your frank replies. Wow, I had no idea it was going to be this problematic just to go to Canada for three weeks. (We asked for a month, I believe.) Incidentally, we did send a translated copy of our "house ownership book" which lists the house in her name, but that...

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

I see there have been no replies with suggestions for improving our application, which I find quite discouraging. Should I take this to mean our particular circumstances are such that our chances are pretty limited no matter what we do? I find it quite bizarre that I'm not able to bring my wife...

You are correct in your assumption . . . and point taken on the ethics violation. Thanks.

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

Would family contacting their MPs help? Has anyone had any success with that?

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

Thanks for your reply. I see what you're saying. In that case, I reckon it could be quite difficult to convince them their logic is wrong in our case when it's been such a common occurrence.

Thai wife denied TRV "stay-in-Canada" risk

Hello everyone, We just received a response from Immigration Canada in which they denied my Thai wife of four years a TRV. I would like to share our circumstances with CanadaVisa in the hopes that someone may be able to shed some light on how we can improve our next application. Background...

Q's regarding TRV for wife accompanying me to Canada

Thank you very much for responding, Bryanna. We have three months before we wish to go, so we'll definitely do as you suggest and take our time. And I'm sure there will be more questions to come. Thanks again.

It would appear you wouldn't have to because you have "proof of valid visa", but I wouldn't take my word for it.

Q's regarding TRV for wife accompanying me to Canada

Wow, what a great website -- chock full of information! My wife (Thai national) is going to apply for a TRV. I'm a Canadian citizen, as is our daughter. We live in Thailand and have no intention of moving to Canada. We just want to visit for 30 days in September to visit my family. I'd be most...

    Bank statement

I just read this . . . it's from the TRV checklist: "CAN+ If you have travelled to Canada in the last ten (10) years or currently hold a valid United States nonimmigrant visa and can provide proof (entry stamps in passport, proof of the valid visa), no proof of financial support is needed."
