I don’t know. I didn’t get one update about background/security on my cic account until I got CoPR. After receiving a CoPR, it’s updated as “Your background check was completed”.

It depends what your nationality is. I’m from a visa exempt country, its citizens only needs eTA to enter Canada so I didn’t have to send an original.

I sent a photocopy of my passport on Jun.4, it arrived in Ottawa next day and they sent me CoPR back on Jun.7. I received it this morning. I used Xpress posts.
