Stupid follow-up question to this - I am about to do my landing in Edmonton but may need to travel to the USA (by car) before the PR card arrives - I assumed that the office would take my COPR to process the PR card but is that not the case? Do they give you the original COPR back?

Thanks for your reply! I have a follow up - one of the optional forms is the IMM5257 - Schedule 1 - Application for a Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside Canada. Because this form is optional and because I am applying from within Canada, my assumption is that I don't need to submit this form...
