I see, could I not go to the States anyway (before my work permit expires) and upon returning enter as a visitor, without going through the hassle of applying to change to a visitor from within Canada?

I just checked processing times. It says 4 days for a visitor visa (within canada) and 45 days for a visitor extension. Which would I fall under? Also once getting this approved, would I be able to visit the U.S and return to Canada again as a visitor?

For CEC you need to have the one year of skilled work experience within three years of applying. If my one year of experience ran from 08/2015 - 12/2017, when would be the latest I can apply? I read that as 08/2018. But does that mean I have to receive my PR before then, or make my profile? Thanks
