Inland Landing Interview from Vancouver Office: waiting time

Hi all, Just to let you know, we landed yesterday at Vancouver. We received our DM on eCas on April 11, and received the landing letter at the beginning of the month. The office was pretty full (I think there were about 40 people when we arrived in the afternoon), but after about a half hour...

Inland Landing Interview from Vancouver Office: waiting time

Thanks! I'm a little surprised at how soon the landing appointment is relative to when they sent the letter. I feel for anybody who has to land at the Vancouver office, because it seems woefully understaffed (from what I've heard) when compared to the number of applicants it handles.

    ****October 2018**** INLAND SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP

Hi Ashie, yes, we are in BC and will be landing in Vancouver. We received our DM last month and haven't heard anything yet. I believe it will be at least another month, but I haven't been following the timelines too closely.

Proof of cohabitation with a tourist with no rights

If you haven't been, go to TD. They specifically have a banking package called "New to Canada" or something (I can't remember the name exactly but it should be fairly obvious when you see it). My partner arrived on a tourist visa from South America on September 29, 2017; three days later he...

    ****October 2018**** INLAND SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP

We got "decision made" showing up on ECAS on April 11, but it took a week for me to get SA and my partner to get the actual DM letter. AIP came a few days (or a day? Can't remember now) before DM showed up on ECAS. At least for us, it was a bit of a drawn-out process.

Cohabiting for 12 months to qualify as common-law + proof?

You're welcome! I know what you mean about being a student - when I was doing my degree (thankfully before I met my partner and had to have any sort of proof), my address situation was a real mess. I had most of my mail sent to my parents, my ID was still in my old address, and I was doing my...

Cohabiting for 12 months to qualify as common-law + proof?

We applied in October 2018 as inland common law and just got the DM letter last week. Here are some of the things that we provided as proof (I know some won't apply in your case but I may as well put them out there as others may read this).....admittedly, some of them are pretty flimsy on their...

I thought I'd log on and take a look at ECAS, and what do I see? DM on both sides!!! This is it, right? We're done? Just have to wait for a landing letter? (That'll probably come next year; our office is Vancouver :P )

We are October 11 applicants, and received AIP today. Still waiting to hear about SA, and I believe the background check is still in progress.

Awesome news! Our application was received October 11 - maybe we will have a nice surprise soon too :)

SA is sponsor approval, and AIP is approval in principle. I did see a list of terms and abbreviations at one point, but of course cannot find it again. If I come across it, I'll send it to you :)

That is absolutely bananas that your application moved that fast! Congratulations to you and your wife. :)

It's good to see that there's several of us out there :) I had read various people commenting elsewhere that implied status didn't count as valid status - it's nice to have proof that it does.

Yay! My partner has been approved for the OWP! What a relief. Now he can start stressing about getting a job instead of stressing about the OWP  I know this comes up from time to time, so I thought I'd post for anybody who might be in the same boat in the future. PA's visitor...

Oh great, now you're going to get me calling CIC every hour checking on things :p Seriously though, congratulations! One more hurdle done.

    ****October 2018**** INLAND SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP

I just called the CIC automated line, and they are reviewing my partner's OWP application. We applied on October 11, they have October 4 as the date they're using, and they say they're reviewing applications received up until October 5. Fingers crossed for everybody!

Apparently ours has started, but we have no idea when. Ecas and GCKey don't show any change, but I called the automated self-serve phone system, and it said the background check was in progress. I checked a few days ago, and it had started by then.

I'm getting nervous too! We have a similar timeline, so I guess maybe that's a good thing. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.
