You need to renew, because when landing, they will ask for valid work permit. so, if you renewed even not coming, at least can approve that you have valid work permit and new one is one the road. if your work permit is expired, then this is another story, they have rights to not let you...

Hey, did you send your passport before the PPR email come? You have to attach a paper which need you to sign it. Hope you send passport, with 2 photos and that signed paper together. not just passport and photo.
