someone i know landed recently. He was told by the officials during landing that the photo specifications had changes recently. and they took another photo for him.
anyways i got PR card finally :)
even if you're asked to resubmit the photos. please don't worry. go to a professional photographer...
same situation here. landed in Vancouver BC on 15Feb, received email for new photos on 26 march. Office received my photos on 4th April. Still waiting for card.

Just to summarize:
1. If we have facility to wire transfer, its best to have funds in our accounts in home country itself.
2. Money in home country account can be used as proof of income during landing in Canada
3. It's easy to open bank account in Canada...
