Hey @softmallowgum ! I was in the same exact situation with my common law partner (I did not need visa, just eTA, and he was from a visa required country) So we sent the photocopy of my passport and his original passport. We received the coPR back without any trouble!

Background check updated from IP1 to NA2 - Happened within 12 hours, so it's easy to miss! AOR: October 2nd, 2017 Medical Passed: October 17th, 2017 BGC: NA1 -> IP1 (October 17th) -> NA2 (October 18th)

I saw that you got it too, Congrats! For the others, I did not received a notification, I just logged in in mycic and saw that the details of my application were set to "Updated" (instead of "Submitted"). Then clicking further I saw that the medical and the background check were changed :)
