Yes you're right, because I called them too for status updates but they replied me the same thing. And the only time they would contact London office to inquire is when the application exceeds the normal processing time, that is, one year.

After medical, now is the time for the background check. In my case medical was approved around April 20th. So it took less than 3 months for that check to be completed. No change in status would be seen because as per CiC the case is in London office and they only notify you once the check is...
