You probably wont be able to link applications till you get your AOR. You can call IRCC and let them know when you application was submitted. They may be able to give you a ballpark idea of which applications they are currently processing (like applications received month of sep., etc.)...

So my PR card was shipped on Friday and I received it on Monday! I'm located in Ottawa. Barely took 3 days to arrive in the mail.

You CAN APPLY ONLINE! The agents at IRCC did confirm this. However, you apply online to the embassy in the country you intend on visiting. You could wait for approval and then travel. The passport will then be have to sent to the embassy for visa stamping.

Permanent resident travel document. It is usually a one time visa that can be obtained from a Canadian embassy abroad. The idea is that it comes to the rescue if you lose your PR card or it is expired and urgently need to travel abroad.
