I had the same thing - I called the cic and was told to submit evidence that you have applied for the PCC (receipt from the post office, copy of the application, etc.) by the due date along with the schedule A form, and when the PCC arrives, submit it via the IRCC webform.

Yes, you can just apply separately, online is the fastest option. It might be good to mention your other application in your letter of explanation, but from what I was told it seems like it's a normal thing to do both.

You may also want to call and ask just to be sure (1 888 242 2100). It takes a while to get through, but worthwhile to get things clarified. You will need to have your application number handy.

Update: I was able to link my application Aug 24 and received a letter requesting the background form and police certificates by Sept 30. On recommendation from an RCIC I submitted the background form along with a letter of explanation and receipts for my applications for background checks in...

I don't really know. Update: I got an email from CIC this morning with an application number telling me to link the application online (which did not work - there was no match and eventually I got locked out, so I'll try again tomorrow). Does this email count as the AOR?

Submitted: July 14 Received: July 17 (according to Canada Post tracking) No AOR yet. It seems like people are getting the AOR after about a month. Any idea when I should start to worry?
