Does anybody know what it means to undergo HIRV screening as per GCMS notes? Just received my gcms notes after 4 months of waiting and it shows "HIRV Screening - In process". Have no idea what this means.... Would appreciate any input. Thanks!

You have to apply for your work permit at the Pretoria Visa Office. South Africa is not a visa exempt country, which means you can't apply for your work permit at a port of entry. Regarding applying for PR at the same time as work permit all depends on the kind of stream you are applying under...

This is the same reply I got as well. Seems like the new generic reply to almost all CSE enquiries. Only difference is the line concerning your medicals, but just replaced with what ever the CSE was related to. This is more than frustrating, some honesty on their end would really be appreciated.

No, CSIS said they have no record on me.

It started on 2 February 2017 but CSIS has responded to my security screening report request that they have no record of me on their system. I received CSIS letter at the end of September 2017...

Still waiting... "Your file is under review. We are doing additional verifications....."

Thank for your reply strength2. According to my GCMS notes, I am not in security screening. My security is passed (call center agents confirmed) but my file is under review and additional background verifications are being done. It that also considered as security screening?

Oh wow, that sounds so familiar. They have been telling us the same thing since May 2017. Do you have a lot of travel history or military background? What do you think they mean by background checks and why so long?
