You didn't get any email explaining what forms or documents are missing. When had you submitted your application? Provide me with the list of docs that you had sent and accordingly I'll tell you what did u miss.

Even I have got an email that they are sending my application back because of the same reason. I am also looking into the same issue. They sent you the application back on your Canadian Address or to your spouse in India and how many days after getting the email did you receive the application.
