Sorry for the confusion but i did mention that I haven't applied for new name Citizenship Certificate yet & NCC is after applying for Name Chnage so it is Name Change Certificate. Last time i checked the processing time to get new name Citizenship Certificate was more then 6 months.

You don't have to wait until you receive you new CC (Update new name). You can use the one that you get now and use the NCC to get passport. Also, apply for new CC if you wish to have it.

I see what you mean. Yes, I will be applying for New Citizenship Certificate once I have a new passport with the new name. I wasn't sure if I had to wait for an updated Citizenship Certificate and then apply for a new passport, which will be 15+ months to get a passport with new name.

Thank you for your reply. I called Service Canada, and they said I don't need to apply for an update Citizenship Certificate. I can use the one with previous name and a Legal Name Change Certificate, and it should be good.

Same here been in Canada for 5 years and max 1 years towards Citizenship is unfair but than its better then the old rule which make us to wait for 5 or 6 years and don't even count the previous stay.

Maximum one year will count towards Citizenship that is the rule.
