Need Advice on Securing a Tuition Deposit Refund and Potential Implications of Not Submitting Passport

The university may ask you to provide letter of refusal. If they see that the application is abandoned, they may not provide the refund. You may have better chances calling the college directly and explain your change in circumstances

Notice of Appeal - Residency Obligation Appeal

Highly recommend to hire an immigration lawyer to help with the IAD appeal. Mind you, it is expensive but necessary at this stage. They can advise you moving forward

    Car Accident Just Before Landing

Relax. Its a routine traffic collision. Keep whatever record you have that the matter is settled. I would dispute it with your local police department if it ever shows up on the record. Finally, it is not a crime to be in routine traffic collision anyway. You are way overthinking this.

[UPDATE] Canada pauses permanent residency sponsorship applications for parents, grandparents

Not sure what you meant as political pressure to reopen PGP. If anything, even reading comments on Reddit (which is pretty left leaning / younger audience), they welcomed this news. Not a single comment was positive / supportive of PGP. It will take years and years before PGP would come back...

Got a follow up call after 44(1) report

I recently had the experience and was successful to clear 44(1) reports on PR obligations. Let me first say that COVID-19 alone is not a sufficient ground because the borders are open for PR and there were commercial flights. Some considerations for H&C: - Degree of breach. A significant...

Got a follow up call after 44(1) report

In my recent experiences, without meeting RO… - approximately 9-12 months to being summoned for first interview to be either issued 5 year card or 1 year card if officer decide to write 44(1) - if 44(1) is written, another 2 years or so until a ministers delegate picks up the file either issue...

PR Card Renew when working abroad

You don't have to wait until you lost your PR. When they reported you, you can just simply renounce it and have your re-sponsor you. Residence tie and paying tax are no longer relevant on spousal sponsorship.

PR Card Renew when working abroad

Nobody knows how the IRCC or CBSA will deal with your non-compliance. In my view, it is unlikely you can renew or maintain your PR. Either way, your wife can sponsor you when you are ready to move here permanently.

Report 44(1) dismissed - does leaving Canada still pose a risk for RO?

You are 100% correct. This is supported by ENF 23 https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/resources/manuals/enf/enf23-eng.pdf#page19 It is to be noted, R62(1), R62(2) - The five-year period does not include any day after: a report is prepared under A44(1) on the...

Report 44(1) dismissed - does leaving Canada still pose a risk for RO?

Like what @scylla said, time is frozen at the writing of 44(1) report which is per their field manual. Another thing to note is that - the shortfall can literally be 1 day and it could lead to 44(1) report. In our case, the time spent after is of course reviewed (they specifically asked for it)...

Reminder: Granting of H&C is an “exceptional relief”

@dpenabill and @scylla are spot-on. Almost 90%+ cases I see on CanLII involves PRTD document versus originating in-land from report 44(1). This is probably in combination that in-land applicant will be less likely breach RO as they can simply wait the clock - OR - the fact that IRCC is more...

Reminder: Granting of H&C is an “exceptional relief”

In reviewing many cases om Canlii - IAD dismiss I would say majority of H&C appeal regarding permanent resident obligations.
