We were married in June 2016 in her country. She has no obligation for 2016, but can I claim her as a deduction for 2016?

I am a Canadian citizen and my wife landed in Canada on Feb.2, 2017. She received a S.I.N. on the same day. Can I claim her on my 2016 tax return, even though she landed in 2017? She has no income for 2016 and is not working presently.

:D My wife picked up her passport at the VAC in Tbilisi today! She will be landing in Toronto-Pearson on Thursday evening and arriving in Moncton at 1:20 am Atlantic Time on Friday morning! My family will be meeting her for the first time at the Moncton airport. They are all very excited! :D
