Umm, I don't know. Maybe, someone else here will be able to answer. Having said that, the agent on the telephone doesn't need to give personal information; just the status. I mean, CIC surely knows that children often carry out paperwork for their parents. (??)

I feel really sorry for your, erable_rouge. I can imaging this being frustrating. Did you call CIC and speak with an agent to ask if such a delay was normal? I mean, did they "indeed" receive the application?

No news yet. The CIC GCKey online account still shows "Open" status, not even "Processing". Also, CIC has not yet updated processing times this week. The last update is from last week July 19.

I don't know. But I don't think you categorized yourself correctly in this forum. The category FAM (stands for family) is for when you sponsor your parents to settle in Canada (permanently). But I am not certain.

But your parents applied under the family class. If I understand well, that takes longer than a visitors' visa my parents applied for. Isn't that so?

I applied online via cic.gc.ca on the 24th June for my parents who are in India. Application is only for a visitor visa for two weeks. No answer yet. Tomorrow it will be 32 days, which is the current processing time for Indian nationals to get an answer for visitor visa applied from outside Canada.
