No Slot Available at VFS Biometric Centres in India for Parents Visitor Visa.. Any Solution ?

Hi Vipin, I just used their online appointment system to request a slot for biometric, along with a copy of the letter from CIC asking to book a biometric. Same day they sent me an email confirming the appointment within a week's time. Make sure you are using the new system, where they will ask...

No Slot Available at VFS Biometric Centres in India for Parents Visitor Visa.. Any Solution ?

Don't pay attention to these corrupt agents any more. VFS has completely updated the biometric application process. You now have to provide the biometric invitation letter to apply for a slot, it's super easy and convenient.

Does Parent sponsorship PR Application make it difficult for them to get Visitors Visa/ Supervisa?

Thanks again! Yes, they have visited Canada multiple times on their TRVs and have complied with all the regulations. I agree that there's always a risk of rejection for any visa application. What I am inferring from your comments is that that risk is not significantly maginified after the PR...

Does Parent sponsorship PR Application make it difficult for them to get Visitors Visa/ Supervisa?

I qualified for the lottery to sponsor my parents for permanent residents application and I am in the process of gathering all documents. However, I am wondering whether applying for PR may jeopardize their chances of getting a visitors visa or a supervisa to Canada. I am concerned because I...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Judging by the comments here, it seems that it is all but confirmed that C-6 (along with the residency requirement changes) is not going to pass this year. Is that right or am I missing something?

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

That is a strange equation as it doesn't take into account those thousands of residents who have been living in Canada as foreign students or workers, who get 1 year of residency from pre PR days. For people like them, 3/5 means they can apply 2 years after becoming a PR, so the total time is...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

That's a fair point, but a PR does not help international travel. You could say vacations abroad are a privilege but this also means inconvenience for work related travel. A scientist with a Canadian PR living and working in Canada may struggle to be able to attend conferences in the US because...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

As a matter of fact, many of them do. Loads of people who obtain PhDs and research based Masters degrees in Canada don't stay on, because of lack of opportunities. And it's not just about salary, it's the quality of work. If Canada wants to foster an environment of research and innovation they...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

So is there any realistic possibility of the bill (along with the 4 to 2 years residency requirement) being implemented before the end of this calendar year? How about 2018? On a side note, I wonder whether anyone pointed out to the honourable conservative senator that in most European...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Thank you for the quick response. I understand what you said. But can anything be said about the scale of the time frames, or even that is pure speculation? For instance, is there any probability that this becomes implemented before the end of 2017? Is there any probability that it doesn't, by...

    Bill C-6: Senate stage

Hi, is there any information on the expected time as to when the new changes may come into effect, if at all? I am particularly interested in the so-called 3/5 rule. I tried reading the thread but the more recent sections of this thread seem more like a prolonged chat and there isn't much useful...

Time taken for Passport Request after medical exam

Hello Lisa, Thanks a lot for your reply and for sharing the excel sheet, that was really helpful. Yes, it seems that 16 months is too high. In some other threads, I read about some PNP candidates being subjected to Quality Assurance which meant additional processing time. I don't know how...

Time taken for Passport Request after medical exam

Hello, I was wondering how long it typically takes for the passport request, after the medical tests have been done. I know that this is a common question and has been asked by many, but browsing through the forum, it appears that the time varies widely. Any information on the latest trend would...

Just so you know, dowry is a criminal offence in India, and your husband can (and should) land in jail.

Ontario PNP (PhD category) now in Quebec

Hi Azsereth, thanks a lot for your response. Immigrating through Quebec would not be straightforward for me, primarily because of my rather limited French skills. Besides, having already been rejected PR before (under CEC, thanks to CIC's revised evaluation of work experience which penalized...

Ontario PNP landing - residency obligations

Hi, I was wondering if it is necessary to quit my temporary contractual job in Quebec before I land, or can I tell them that I am looking for a job in ON which I will start after my present contract is over? Will being employed by an university in Quebec temporarily, go against me? Please...
