Early last our SV was only renewed for a year. We were told that as our PR sponsor had been approved we should become PRs within the year. Fortunately she was right.

She can renew the SV every 2 years. We did this by hopping across the border but it can be done online. If you mean the sponsor has approved been approved...it took us around 9 months after that to receive PR.

We received an email informing us that our application for PR had been approved. We were asked to provide 2 photos each. We were not asked for our passports, because of our citizenship they were not required. The office was Ottawa.

We received the same as above. Send your passport in (we had to submit 2 photos each) and it will be returned with a letter saying you have been approved for PR. Ours was returned within a week. Congratulations.

We landed at Queenston/Lewiston two weeks ago on a Wednesday around 2 pm. The officer couldn't have been nicer. He welcomed us to Canada. The whole thing took about 30 mins.

You are required to buy 2 envelopes. One is to send your documents in to CIC. The other is for the return of said documents and your landing papers.

If that was the case, how come we were asked for pics last week. If we were from a visa required country, CIC would have asked for our PP then. I think they are trying to get as many PRs through by the end of the year as possible to meet their quotas, not delaying applications.

I would say that is just a rumour and completely untrue. We did not get a PPR request as we are citizens of non visa countries, but we did get a request for photos last week. PR comfirmation received today, although the CIC website has not been updated.

Received the paperwork this morning saying we have been approved for PR. Applied 2 Jan 2014.

We received an email informing us a decision had been made and requesting pics around the same time as 'decision made' was posted on the CIC website. CIC have had the pics for a week but not heard anything since.

Are you notified by email or regular mail of CIC's decision? I'm pretty sure we will not have to send our passports in.

Today our status has been changed from 'in process' to 'decision made'.

we emailed CIC a week after sending in our PCC...we received a confirmation email within a couple of hours. Our online status has not been updated to show this.

Our application seemed to start moving once we requested the notes. Within a few weeks the medical and police reports were requested. So I would say yes.

So why were we asked by CIC in August to provide a RCMP report? We had been living in Canada for 2 1/2 years at that point.

Really?? We are in Canada using the Super Visa and we were required to get a Canadian police report. So did my daughter when she applied for PR...she had been in Canada on a student visa.

Thank you. I thought we would get it through by the end of the year...to make their year end numbers. We will not have to send our passports in so that will save time.

Does anyone have any idea of the approximate time it takes for approval after sending in the police reports to Ottawa?
